Apple Crisp

This is a great recipe for a large group, esspecially for picnics and events!
Ingredients
Crumble
2 cups flour
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup melted butter
6 apples
Filling
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp cornstarch
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
 
Directions
1. Place all crumble ingredients in a medium bowl and stir with a fork until combined.
2. Preheat oven to 350.
3. Peel apples and cut into 1/4 inch wedges.
4. Place sugar, cornstarch, salt, water, and vanilla into a large bowl and stir until combined.
5. Add apples to mixture and toss until combined.
6. Place half the crumble mixture into a 9 by 13 inch pan and pat down to form crust.

7. Evenly pour the apple mixture into the pan.
8. Sprinkle the remaining crumble over the apples.
9. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until top is golden brown.
 
Notes:

Makes one 9 by 13 inch pan.

My favorite apples to use in this recipe are Rome Beauty Apples, but other apples that are good for baking are Granny Smith, McIntosh, Golden Delicious, and Jonathan.
