From Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.  Azna is Jadzia's (a Trill) favorite dish.  She likes this so much, she recommends it to Commander Sisko, claiming it will add years to his life.  What is this stuff, magic?  Not at all; it's a kind of vegetable stew that Trills regard very highly because it does provide them a kind of longevity.  On Earth, the closest stew is a simple mixed-vegetable curry with carrots, broccoli, and potatoes in a mild sauce.
1 potato, peeled, cubed
3 carrots, sliced into 1/8" thick rounds
3 cups broccoli, florets
1 1/2 Tbs butter
1 1/2 Tbs flour, all-purpose white
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 tspn cumin, ground
1 tspn turmeric
1 Tbs cilantro
1 1/4 tspn salt
1/2 cup sour cream
1. Peel and cube potato
2. Start potato boiling
3. Set up steamer
4. Slice carrots, and add a few to the steamer
5. Cut broccoli into florets, and add some to the steamer as you cut, adding carrots occasionally to mix them so everything cooks evenly and steam will flow smoothly.
6. Start the steamer steaming
7. Check potatoes occasionally.  When done, if you're going to serve this dish with grain, pour off water into measuring cup and reserve potatoes in another bowl.  The water can now be used to cook any grain you wish, reserving vitamins.
8. When the carrots and broccoli are almost done, or after they're done, if you want to use the same pot for making the sauce, heat butter in pot over medium-low heat.
9. Once butter is hot, whisk in flour
10. Slowly whisk in milk
11. Continue whisking occasionally, until sauce starts to thicken
12. Add seasonings, and continue cooking until sauce is somewhat thick
13. Add sour cream and mix
14. Once sour cream is smoothly mixed in sauce, add all vegetables
15. Serve alone, or with a grain.  Quinoa & white rice go well.
Servings: 2 as main dish, 4 as side dish
Origin: Modified from The Star Trek Cookbook

I use 2 pots for this - one to boil the potatoes and then cook the grain I usually serve with it after the potatoes are done, and the other first with the steamer rack, then I take the steamer rack out when the carrots & broccoli are done, pour the water out, and make the sauce in the same pot.

About Jadzia Dax, from Nelix:
I do appreciate Klingon culture, as does Jadzia Dax.  So here is my encomium to Dax in all of her/his incarnations, especially the present one: Lieutenant Commander Jadzia Day, the Klingon culture aficionado extraordinaire.  She can weild a bat'leth with the best of them, whether it be in a holodeck simulation or in the kinds of free-for-all matches Kingons truly relish.  She likes wild, loud midnight parties full of Andoria ale and lots of bloodwine.  And she has half of Deep Space 9 running around panting after her.  I wouldn't mind a Trill like Jadzia beaming around Voyager.  I'm a spot man myself, although you wouldn't think so just to look at me, and certainly appreciate a fine symmetrical pattern of organized skin pigmentation as well as the next guy.  I think Jadzia and I would get along quite well.  After all, I can rustle up a Klingon dish fit for Kahless himself and now, since I have led Klingons into battle, you could say that I know what it takes.  If she likes the highwayman business spirit of the Ferengi, which she says she does, she'd love the life of a Talaxian trader.  We could show the Ferengi a thing or two about business, I can tell you that.  And unlike the Ferengi, the Talaxians are born diplomats.  I think Jadzia could go for me in a big way.
