Lachko Dal (Basic Toovar Dal)

1 Tbs ghee
1/2 tspn cumin seeds
1 cup toovar dal (yellow lentils)
2 1/2 cups water
1/4 tspn turmeric
1 tspn salt
1. Heat pot over medium heat
2. Add ghee
3. When ghee is hot, add cumin
4. When seeds crackle, add dal and stir.  Then add water, and then remaining ingredients
5. Stir and cover tightly
6. Bring to boil, then reduce heat to low
7. Simmer for 30 minutes, then check to see if lentils are done.  They should be soft all the way through.
8. Serve with rice or rotli.
