First of all, thanks to everyone that has tried out this new service. We've had some good feedback and I wanted to give some thoughts on it.

Feedback is important to us so that we can tailor our service to meet the needs of our users. A goal of WeGottaEat is to keep it simple enough that our non-technical spouses can easily use it. To us, this means the fewer features the better. That said, additional functionality is important and will be considered. So please tell us what you want and we'll keep you updated on our thoughts about each suggestion.

Non-english Character Support
We have updated the service to allow the use of non-english characters. If we have missed something, please let us know.

Recipe Images
While images for recipes is a very cool feature, most of our current users do not need or want this ability. It is something we are considering for the future though.

Recipe Sharing
Sharing of recipes is something we are currently working on and would like to here feedback on how you would like to share. Our current thoughts are to allow recipes to be shared with the public and/or just specific friends depending on what you specify. The simplest implementation would be to have a user keep a list of friends (wegottaeat user names). The be able to mark recipes as either public, shared or private. Public would be available to people without wegottaeat accounts. Shared would be visible to people in your friends list. Private would not be available to anyone but yourself. As far as how poeople discover your shared recipes, we are not sure yet.

We are working on documenting the data APIs used to run this site. After those are documented we plan on releasing a sample desktop program that use them. Stay tuned and send comments.

WeGottaEat is an experiment to provide something useful for our better halves. Currently the tools allow you to enter and categorize your recipes. Not much else can be done yet, but we are working on features that will hopefully allow you to get more use out of it, including sharing with your friends. We will be listing the features we are planning on adding here, so check back. Please comment on what's already here and what you would like to see here. We are very open to suggestions. Thanks.
