Cranberry/Blueberry Scones

Think summer-like, fresh, delicious
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 Tbs Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 cup Sugar
3/4 cup cold butter
2 cups Berries (frozen, coarsley chopped)
1/2 cup Walnuts, chopped (or Pecans) (optional)
2 tsp Orange Peel, grated
1 cup Buttermilk

Topping:
1 Tbsp Milk
1 Tbsp. Sugar
1/4 Tsp. Cinnamon
Directions:
1. Combine, in a large bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Cut in butter.

Stir in fruit, nuts and orange peel, just until combined.

Mix in buttermilk with a fork.

On a floured surface, turn bowl out an roll out to appx. 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Cut into 12 equal pieces.

Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, if desired.

Bake on lower rack@ 400 degrees fro about 15 min.


Notes:
Keep berries frozen after chopping or you'll have pink/purple biscuits - also very nice...
