Roasted Brussel Sprouts

From Lionnette's Market in Boston
Ingredients:
1 lb brussel sprouts, washed and trimmed of their outer leaves
1 tbsp olive oil
sea salt
black pepper
1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2. In a large baking pan, toss the brussel sprouts in olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper, and add the optional maple syrup for sweetness, if desired. Roast for 45 minutes, checking often for doneness.
Notes:
Pick brussel sprouts that have bright green, compact heads and store them unwashed in an airtight plastic bag for only about 3 days - keeping them longer will make them bitter.

(I must confess I used frozen brussel sprouts since the fresh ones looked ooky and I hate trimming the sprouts down and the recipe still came out fine.)
