Boiled peanuts

Ingredients:
1/4 cup salt
approximately 7 quarts of water
peanuts in their shells
Directions:
1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
2. Pour in the salt.
3. Drop peanuts in to boil; put a plate on top of the peanuts.
4. Fill a jar with water and set on top of the plate to keep the peanuts under the water.
5. Cook over high heat until peanuts begin to boil.
6. Turn off heat. Allow to cool.
7. When cool, bring to a boil again and cook for about 20 minutes.
8. For softer peanuts, boil longer.
9. Take out a shell and test peanuts inside until they have reached the desired consistency.
