Wonder Salad

(newspaper clipping circa 1981)

"I think this one of the best vegetable salads I have ever eaten.  It keeps well and is so crisp."
Ingredients:
1 can French style beans (No. 303)
1 large can very small English peas
1 can fancy Chinese vegtables without meat
1 can water chestnuts, sliced
1 1/2 cups thinly sliced celery, cut crosswise
3 medium onions, sliced into thin rings
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup vinegar
1 tsp. salt
pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Drain all vegetables.  Put into a large bowl with a cover.  Combvine sugar, vinegar and salt.  Let sugar dissolve.  Pour over vegetables and mix lightly.  Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight.
Notes:
A  #303 can contains 15-oz. or 2 cups.
