Hot Milk Sponge Cake

This is a very moist cake that can be enjoyed with or without an icing or topping. Fresh fruit is good as a topping though.
Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 cup milk
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until butter melts and milk boils.
2. Remove from heat and cool.

3. Add vanilla and stir.
4. In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
5. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until they have a lemony color. Slowly add sugar and beat until thick and creamy.

6. Add dry ingredients to egg mixture slowly and beat on low speed. Add milk mixture and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

7. Pour into greased and floured pans.
8. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes for a cake pan.

What size pans did you use - 9x13 or more like 8" round or square ones? I really like unfrosted cakes. Is this like AP Cake? Or more like the cake you would use to put together Strawberry Shortcake?

I use a 9x13 pan. I've never personally had AP Cake. We always have fruit and cool whip with this cake but it's yummy by itself, too.
