Tip 1: What Is Ranking?
WeGottaEat.com's Discovery section is all about finding the best recipes.
To do that, we utilize a ranking system to determine the most popular
recipes and members. The popular ones show up at the top of your searches.
To determine popularity, we look at which recipes are marked as favorites
and which members are being shared as friends, as well as page views and comments.
The system is a work in progress and will be tweaked for better results as
we learn more.
The ranking is done once per day.
Tip 2: Saving Favorites
As you come across recipes or members that you like, you can click the light-blue
star next to the name and it will be saved under your account. To see all your
favorite recipes and members, click on the Organize link at the top.
You'll also be able to access your favorites recipes and members from
My Recipes. Along the right side you should see an expandable area for
Favorite Recipes and you'll also see a Members tab. You'll be able to search them too,
just like they were your own recipes.
Tip 3: How To Improve Your Recipe Popularity
The biggest factor in having a high ranking recipe is having other people
add your recipe as a Favorite. Your rank will also increase if your profile
has been saved as a friend by other members.
However, because this service is just starting out, we don't have a lot of
favorite recipes or friends. Besides those two factors, the following are
also considered...
- » Does your recipe have an picture?
- » Does your recipe have the ingredient list and directions filled out? Recipes that have just been copied in the description area will not be ranked very high.
- » Does your recipe have a good description? Use a description that will entice people to try your recipe. Put other details about your recipe for the notes area.
- » Does your recipe specify categories?
Tip 4: Keep Up-To-Date With Feeds
You may see a small, orange icon at different places
around this website. Those icons indicate an RSS Feed is available for up-to-the-
minute content notifications. Hover your mouse over the icon to see what the content
the feed will deliver. Click on the icon to receive the feed.
What is an RSS Feed? RSS is a format for sharing content among different websites. Sites can syndicate "feeds"
(content) and Internet users can use an application called an RSS reader or aggregator
to download feeds. There are many such
readers available,
most at no cost.
