Jolene Black's Cream Biscuits

  • Currently 4/5
Partnered with a cup of coffee, a well-made, buttered biscuit is a delicious start to the day. This two ingredient recipe is near to perfection. A reader's recipe, it was originally published in the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
"A cream biscuit a day is surely a recipe for tasting heaven on earth."
Makes 10 to 12 biscuits
2 1/2 cups White Lily self-rising flour
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Put the flour in a medium mixing bowl and add the cream.
Stir until a soft, sticky ball forms.  (the dough will seem wet at first.)
On a very lightly floured surface, knead lightly with your well-floured hands about 3 times, just until the dough comes together.
2. Pat the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.  Cut out biscuits with a 2 1/2-inch round cutter.  Bake in the prepared baking sheet for 10 to 12 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown.
