Saucy Mozzarella Patties

1 jar tomato sauce
1 lb ground beef, turkey or chicken
3 cups bread crumbs (divided)
1 egg
Salt & pepper, to taste
Garlic powder, to taste
1-2 tbs butter or margarine
1 tbs olive oil
1 cup shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1. Place meat in bowl.  Add egg and incorporate into meat.  Add 1 cup of bread crumbs.  Add salt, pepper and garlic powder.  Combine by hand until well blended.
2. Melt butter and oil in pan.  Put 2 cups of bread crumbs into a flat dish.  Measure 1/3 cup of meat and flatten into a patty.  Repeat with remaining meat.  Press patties into bread crumbs to coat.  Cook in the butter/oil until both sides are browned.
3. Pour 1 cup sauce in bottom of baking dish.  Place patties in sauce.  Top with remaining sauce.  Sprinkle with cheeses.
4. Bake at 350 degrees until cheese is bubbly but not brown about 15-20 minutes.
5. Makes 6-8 patties.
