Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • Currently 4/5
This is basically the old Nestle Tollhouse Cookie recipe from the chip bag.  But, we like ours with less chocolate, more cookie, so I reduced the chips form 2 cups to one cup.  I reduced the egg to one, and added my secret ingredient -  molasses.  Baking at 375, not 350 is important, so they start forming a crust before they flatten out too much.  Crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside - perfect.  Makes 4 dozen.
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cups butter (2 sticks), softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 TBL Molasses
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1. PREHEAT oven to 375° F.
2. COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Cream together butter and sugars in large bowl. Add vanilla extract, egg, and molasses, beat until creamy.  Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
3. BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
