Stuffed Green Peppers

6 large green peppers
5 cups boiling water
1 lb ground beef
2 Tbsp chopped onion
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp garlic salt
15 oz can tomato sauce
Rice mixture
1/3 cup rice
2/3 cup water
1/4 tsp salt
1. Cut ends/tops off of peppers, remove all insides and rinse thoroughly. Cook peppers in boiling water for 5 minutes (or until they are slightly soft). Drain.
2. Cook and stir ground beef and onion in medium skillet until onion is tender. Drain fat. Stir in salt, garlic salt, rice and 1 cup of the tomato sauce; heat through.
3. Lightly stuff each pepper with 1/2 cup meat mixture. Stand peppers upright in baking dish 8x8x2 inches. Pour remaining tomato sauce over peppers.
4. Cover and bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 more minutes.
Mom's recipe

Try this next time to save time. Don't boil peppers, but place in the microwave with some water and cook for a couple minutes to soften. Then fill with meat mixture.
