Mexican Fruit Cake

I'm not sure what makes the "Mexican", but it was Aunt Lucy's recipe and Granny wrote on it "GOOD."
Ingredients
1 20 oz can crushed pineapple with juice
2 c all purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c nuts
Cream Cheese Frosting
2 c powdered sugar
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese (softened)
1 stick margarine
 
Directions
1. Blend all ingredients until smooth. Bake in 13X9 pan (no temp. or time given.)
2. Frost cake while hot.
