RootDown LA: RootDown LA gets kids (and adults to eat their veggies). We do in one hour, what nutrition educators have been trying for decades. We take our nasty veggies into classrooms and courtyards and within minutes, get kids wanting to cook and eat the veggies! Then we train youth to build demand for healthy food in their communities. That's what it's going to take if we're ever going to tackle the obesity and diabetes epidemic our nation now faces!
Dawn Knowlton: Love this concept! After fighting obesity for years and finally getting the chance to win the battle with the help of weight loss surgery and a healthy diet, I really want to see children taking an active role in their health and learn all foods can be made to taste great. Way to go!

Matriarchy: I grew up on nasty over-cooked and tasteless veggies. I would eat better today if I had not been completely turned off by being forced to eat them as a child. Teach the kids to cook!

RootDown LA: Thanks Dawn! Yeah, it's criminal, what's happened to our food system. Thank goodness there's an easy way for kids to get back on track w/ a healthy diet - eat real food! Fortunately, we've got people working now on both the demand and supply side of the equation. We'll have our recipes up here soon!!!

RootDown LA: Yes Matriarchy! In minutes, our kids can blanche broccoli, sautee greens and grate beets so the texture gets better. Check out rootdownla.org to see how we work! We'll get some of our cooking techniques for making those nasty veggies better - up here soon too! And I hear you btw- I grew up in Ohio where we should have had TONS of fresh produce but most people stuck w/ frozen and canned food. Convenience nation.. Ugh!
