Italian Hot Chocolate

  • Currently 4/5
In Italy this is called a "Cioccolata calda con danna". Its perfect for curling up with your sweetie on those cold winder nights.

Yields 2 servings
1 1/3 cups milk
2 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
4 oz high quality bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
whipped cream (at least 1 tbsp per serving)
1. Place the milk in a small saucepan. Whisk in the sugar and cornstarch.
2. Add the quality chopped chocolate.
3. Turn the heat to medium and stir constantly until the chocolate melts and the mixture comes to a boil.
4. Simmer for 30 seconds, stirring constantly and then remove the pan from the heat.
5. Pour the hot chocolate into cups. Dollop each with whipped cream and serve immediately.
This is like a grown-up version of a beloved comforting hot beverage.
