Beef with Broccoli

Ingredients
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch, divided
1 clove garlic, minced
1 thin slice ginger root, minced
1 pound sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
2 tablespoons oil, divided
2 onions, cut into wedges
3 large carrots, sliced
1 head broccoli
1 1/4 cup water, divided
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
 
Directions
1. Combine soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, garlic, and ginger root; pour over steak. Heat 1 tablespoon oil, add steak, and fry until browned.
2. Heat remaining oil and add onions; stir fry 1 minute. Add carrots, broccoli, and 1 cup water; cover and steam for 4 minutes.
3. Combine remaining water, oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and sugar. Stir sauce into pan with vegetables and cook until thick. Add meat and heat through. Serve with rice. Serves 4.
